Sneak Peek for Our Wednesday Night Exhibit!

Hello First Grade Families!

How are you? I hope you have a lovely weekend.  I wanted to give you a sneak peek at the exhibit we are sharing this Wednesday at our last Family Night of the year.  Wednesday, June 6th, 5-8pm, is the All-School Exhibition Night, so come out!  We will be singing some songs at 5pm in our class!

The class will also be selling our animal book marks, from our last project, to help raise money for animals.  Stay tuned on how you can help out, we'll need parents and students to man the booth for parts of the night.

The students have been working on depicting settings that could be used for story writing as well as list of descriptive words that would make a story taking place in that setting more rich.  The night will be an interactive one in which you can write your own story as a family, using the parts presented and then put it on display!  We can't wait to see you there!

Aren't these amazing?  These students blow my mind!

Another ambitious project some of the students are working on is to figure out how many coins there are in Jason's treasure chest.  The group has had to organize themselves, then write a list of plans and jobs in order to get this work going.  The tricky part has been keeping the agreements all the days they are working and conveying this to friends who come to work with them on any given day.  The group has also had a day where they realized their documentation of all the counting that day wasn't correct.  This meant they had to go back to check their work.  Lots of real-time coin counting practice in the process, as well as group work social skills.
How much money do you think is in the treasure chest?

Thanks for reading this with your child!  See you soon!  Love, Jennifer
